Presentation

The deployment and interconnection of socio-ecological crises make the challenge of advancing towards more plural and just futures more pressing than ever before. Political ecology provides us with important tools to explore the asymmetric and colonial power relations that influence global flows of material resources, money, ideas, and people. However, this theoretical field is marked by inequalities in terms of the participation of researchers from different places, the distribution of resources for research, and how different forms of knowledge and existence are shared, represented, and valued.

With POLLEN24, our goal is to provide a platform for discussing these issues among others, through the organization of a decentralized but interconnected conference, with physical venues in Peru, Tanzania, and Sweden. Through this transcontinental approach, we seek to facilitate an inclusive and participatory exchange around the role of political ecology in promoting diverse and just socio-ecological futures.

In the case of Lima, the conference will be held at the facilities of the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú.
